What Is “Oita Wagyu”?
■A New Brand for the 100th Anniversary
The history of “Bungo Beef” began in 1918 (Taisho 7). To commemorate its 100th anniversary and with the aim of achieving even higher quality, “Oita Wagyu” was launched in 2018.
■Awards and Honors
At the National Livestock Exposition held in Taisho 10, cattle from Oita Prefecture won first prize. They have a distinguished history, having once paraded through Ginza in Tokyo.
■Carefully Selected Elite Cattle
"Oita Wagyu" is a designation reserved exclusively for beef graded at the top levels—Grades 4 and 5. It is truly a treasure of Oita, the result of 100 years of passion.
Wagyu beef you can enjoy every day.
Our Commitment to Animal Care (Feeding)
This is perfect for those who say, “I like Wagyu, but I don’t care for the heavy fat…” We carefully select only “premium” cuts graded 4 or 5, and we’re proud of the light, refreshing aftertaste.
Rice that’s “light and melts in your mouth”
Adding rice to the feed increases the oleic acid content. This creates a refined, sweet, fatty flavor that melts smoothly in the mouth without leaving a lingering aftertaste.
"Deep Umami" from Beer Lees
We also feed our cattle the spent grain produced during the beer-making process. This helps the cattle absorb nutrients and results in healthy meat with a rich, savory flavor.
Working hand in hand with our producers.
That's why it's delicious.
[A Relationship Built on Trust and Face-to-Face Interaction]
The shop owner personally visits the Oita Prefectural Livestock Corporation and various beef cattle farmers. He hears firsthand about the producers’ dedication and passion, and shares these stories with our customers.
[The Joy of Buying a Whole Cow]
By purchasing whole cows, we’re able to offer rare cuts such as misuji, ichibo, and haneshita on a daily rotating basis.
In Ura-Namba,
